There is no date stamp or other writing on the interior. Also missing are the original snare wires-something old with some wire currently installed. One of the adjustment knobs has been replaced with something that works but is unoriginal while the throw arm is AWOL. The hoops and shell are original and round(Remo ambassadors on now, so you know they're round! The butt mechanism rolls smooth like it was machined last week, but the throw arm and one of the two adjustment knobs of the strainer are missing. more 15 of the 20"lugs" are present and working. This guy has the 8 original air hole grommets which are all nice-n-snug. Leave alone for character or toss in a little elbow grease& paint stripper and away you go! Anyway. Good thing, I s'pose, is that that paint has probably protected the aluminum finish.

Originally in the raw aluminum finish, this specimen was infected by some goofball with a black spraypaint can(you should have to have a license to use those things. It originally had 20 banjo-style clips and used a(hexagonal) banjo key to adjust the tension rods. But in better shape than most 85ish-year-old snares out there. Slingerland Collectors Look! It can be set precisely where the user desires. The strainer was designed to have quite a lot of adjustment available. It looks like Slingerland used a pair of 3-point strainers& connected then w/ an internal link(rod) Like the S.S.
The drum has a parallel type strainer that's adjustable both vertically and horizonally. Whereas the bottom side is a little snug to install. The top head goes on as it should and will spin freely. These uneven places are not that noticable but I must point that out. The drum was most likely used as a concert snare drum. These brass shells are soft and do bend easily.this drum came from a high school& has been in storage for quite some time. 5"x14" COB shell with crimped snare beds& No Extra Holes or mods*The chrome is in great has a few scratches and some uneveness. Precise tone, much like the Ludwig Super-Sensitive. Here is an example of just that drum! This drum does project a crisp.

Slingerland was then free to build& market their version of their competitor's ever-so-popular Brass Super-sensitive snare drum. After Ludwig's patent for the"Super-Sensitive" ran out. This particular strainer was used from 1970 thru 1976. SLINGERLAND 5.5x14" Chrome-Plated-Brass Shell Snare Drum w/Dual Super Snare Strainer in VG used cond!
